A short but comprehensive look into my life as a Christian (which spanned 15 years) to prove to Christians that I was a genuine born-again, Holy Spirit baptised, and deeply committed Christian who had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. This guy is amazing!
I will watch the deconversion now, i watched this i can see where you did get saved. You didn’t go into the witnessing yet. But either way God lead you to witness to certain people. Not everyone is ready to recieve Christ so you are not to force anything on anyone. That is where christians goes wrong. We plant seeds some grasp it and some won’t. Well going to watch the next one now.
It’s evident to me that you are a thoughtful, honest Human being. Good on you for posting this.
ps I love that picture of the angel when you’re talking about the spiritual realm! (In the same way that I love other fantasy art.)
@ChickenBot
It is one thing to answer the question reasonably, it is another to proclaim without evidence that a specific or even a nonspecific deity did it. Please think reasonably about it. You would rather think that an invisible space man has created the Universe instead of actually looking for the evidence of the real birth of the Universe.
It’s really as Thunderf00t says, the internet is where religion comes to die. Once again we see another case where the knowledge and information that the internet had to offer led to deconversion. Without the internet, I would probably still be a Christian today as well. I really am grateful to have been so fortunate to be able to see so many other perspectives through it. Shedding my Christianity has changed my entire outlook in life and I feel so much more comfortable with myself now.
I agree with msniekababy, you should really make a downloadable DVD ISO of this; I think your story could really help reach out to other Christians who need to see the other perspective, and I would be glad to distribute it to some of my friends who could really benefit from viewing it.
Shame on you for using Pascal’s Wager, ChickenBot.
Anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty knows that believing just for the sake of covering your bases probably wouldn’t fly well with an infinite being watching over you. Moreover, it’s a faulty assumption to think that there are only two possibilities: Yahweh or nothing, when there is also the possibility to consider Zeus, Odin, Allah, Mithra, and countless other gods if we are to consider and accept supernatural claims into our beliefs.
this should be on DVD, i would buy it, i wish i had a story like this for my deconversion, but your story is one of the reasons for my deconversion, I think I stopped believing a long time ago, I just didnt think it was socially expectable to say so, so I never did
It’s easier to believe in a Master Designer/Creator than to believe that all we know as reality just happened for no reason. EVERYTHING has a reason… IF there is a God I would have to the best of my ability obey to love Him and people. If there is no God well at least I lived being good to others and to myself. But if there is a God and decide to deny Him…well… He will know what to do.
I clung to Christ, a dying effigy, because He was all I knew. All I was ever allowed to know. I feared life. I feared my own potential strength. Religion is dying. A slow death, but its dying. I opened my eyes and saw what a fool all of us are, bowing to corpse failure slumped on a throne. The “blasphemy” still sends shivers down my spine. It is the freshness of life. I am an atheist, and now I truly live!
its kind of cool to find someone with a similar story, i live in el salvador, and its hard to find atheist around, your videos are great! can’t wait for you to finish the next one!
this is amazing, almost brought tears ti my eyes, while you were telling you story i could remember mine, and how real god was to me, how intense that feeling was, its so strange to be able to remember that feeling, and almost feel it again!
but i lost my faith, i began looking at this series at the second part, and even though my deconversion was different, there was a lot of common ground, like you mention tehe hardest part of all of this is to convince people, that you were for real
Chris. I am an atheist, but I was born a Roman Catholic. Certainly in my book there is nothing “sappy” about this series of videos. Brilliant brilliant work! There is no doubt that this work will help people going through deconversion. Bravo!
I was “saved” several times and people tend to find that peculiar so I am surprised that it’s common. But, OMG, 666 ratings on this video!
i can identify with you so much. i have been away from my christian life for a few years now. rationally i have picked so many holes in christianity. i detest christians and the church. what i can never forget though, are the spiritual experiences i had as no one else was going through them but me. do you explain them as something else? or how do you view them? your feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks
@SPACKlick
I must say the whole series feels profoundly personal to me, this video so much more so because we can see his face.
Love the series.
Still can’t work out if I like this video having your face in it, as compared with the anonimity of section 2.
What’re other peoples thoughts?
why don’t you just believe in yourself and stop being so artificial?
I see, I apologize. I would’ve expected to see it somewhere in the right menu bar in the video page itself.
@exactspace
An apatheist, I see. I’m afraid your stance just doesn’t work for those of us who consider the vast implications the existence of a creator would have on our lives.
@encarta007
You perplex me. The playlist has been available for almost a year and there is an annotation link in the lower right corner at the beginning of every video. It is also linked to in my profile page.
It is pretty frustrating when I have gone to such great lengths to make the playlist accessible and people like yourself still complain about it not existing.
you wouldn’t have all these troubles and be so emotionally screwed up if you were not afraid and gave up such a grasping belief in god. who cares if god is real or not.
@TheWolfWolford he credits the music in all his videos in the sidebar…just click “more info.” And I agree, the music matches the videos perfectly.
I was very moved by your story.
I love the music in the background BTW. Who composed it? What is the name of the song?
It would’ve been nice if there was a playlist, which would have made the job easier to watch the videos in order.
