I saw them last night in concert and Michael Tait absolutely ROCKED it! I thought he did a wonderful job. I don’t think this video does him justice.
i’m just not used 2 hearing the old newsboys sung by tait.i love tait’s voice & their new stuff suits his voice better & is awesome

Hmm. Tait’s a good singer, but it just doesn’t sound like a Newsboys song in his voice. Maybe they’ll bring in some new fans, and if so, great, ’cause they’re awesome. But Peter leaving, I feel, will always be the saddest moment of my musical ‘life’.
Michael Tait is the best thing that ever happened to the Newsboys.
I think the most disappointing thing about having Tait in the band, was that Peter sang right in my voice’s range so I knew, no matter what, I could sing along to a newsboys song.
Overall, I don’t think it sounds bad, it just sounds more like Tait covering newsboys songs, than a real newsboys concert.
I miss the Aussie accent too.
im sorry i just simply don’t like him.. maybe hell grow on me when they make more of their own songs that fit his voice, but this just doesnt sound right. Creations going to be interesting
Bands that have successfully changed their lead singer: AC/DC, Petra, Journey, Van Halen and oh yeah -am I the only one that remembers when Peter took over lead vocals for John James? JJ as the lead saw a lot of success, he wasn’t just on a couple albums people. IMO Peter was a better singer than john, but Tait is way better than the two of them added up and multiplied by the number of NB members that have come and gone since Sean taylor!

I like worship that is all about God, all about His goodness and getting our sticking eyes off of ourselves… I never really liked dc talk…I liked Newsboy’s worship, but now I wonder if it will die.
The voice is the song. Every time they play old stuff, it will sound like a cover or karaoke. The new stuff will be Newsboys in name only.
It already has changed substantially, MUCH more so than when Petra changed lead singers.
And I know I don’t like it. As I said, I like Michael Tait’s music, but Newsboys music doesn’t fit his voice.
Now that I disagree with. There’s no reason to break up Newsboys just yet.
People were just as reluctant when Petra changed leads, but everyone learned to know and love the “new” band, with its new sound. Newsboys’ sound MAY change with Tait at the helm, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You may find that you like it.
This change makes them a new band. It’s like Aerosmith hiring Paul McCartney to replace Steven Tyler. You can’t take one superstar and replace him with another. Michael Tait is who he is, and he’s fantastic. But this is Peter’s music, written by him and for his voice. I wouldn’t want to hear Peter singing dc Talk or Tait songs either. They should just end the band – after 25 years, nobody would blame them.
I think the reason people are reluctant to accept Mike Tait as the new lead is because a new lead singer often signals the first of many changes a band goes through. The Newsboys have a sound unique to them, and it’s because of Peter Furler. But a new lead–particularly one of DC Talk fame–will bring a new sound. It will just take some getting used to. Peter’s songs will always be considered classic Newsboys. But I’m willing to hear what Mike has to offer. It ought to be good.

My opinion is this, Micheal Tait isn’t Peter Furler, but then again, he shouldn’t have to be. He has his own unique style, that I think will be good for Newsboys. Maybe one day Peter will return, but I think Micheal should stay either way. That is just my two since, take it or leave it.
