Q&A part VI of the Hitchens vs. Turek debate at VCU, VA. Full debate: www.vimeo.com and (annotated) www.youtube.com Turek continues his self-ridiculing (singularity=miracle wtf?), Hitchens argues that the argument from irreducible complexity (IC) -stating that because DNA is so complex or beautiful it must be created- is an “infinitely expanding tautology”. Love Hitchens, I looks so drunk there LOL!!
haha, poor guy is ridiculed
Poor Turek never fails to get schooled! Lol!
Turek doesn’t have a clue. Hume wouldn’t believe in his own birth? What the hell?
@frickadele conditioning.
If this had been a fight, they would have stopped it in the second round. Turek doesn’t belong in the ring with Hitchens.
@frickadele …human beings are murdered daily by other human beings…
Best of all, most were murdered in the name of… faith.
Dr. Turek is pathetic. Ill tell you people what he most certainly knows what he believes in. But, i feel sorry for a soul devoting their life to such a lost cause
“out of nothing” is the stupidest argument against the big bang. the big bang says everything is in one mass and then separates in an explosion
Hitchens FTW as usual. YOU CAN’T STOP THE TRUTH OR SCIENCE !!!
Turek hasn’t read/understood Hume

“There’s no such thing as morality
if you’re just a bunch of chemicals.”
Notice how Htichens squirms…
after that zinger.
If we’re ALL just chemical concoctions…
then what keeps one chemical concoction
from killing another chemical concoction?
More caffeine or booze?
Our galaxy contains at least 100 billion stars, at most 400 billion. Our galaxy is one of hundreds of billions of galaxies, more than we could possibly ever count. Some of those galaxies contain in excess of 100 TRILLION stars and planets just by themselves. We orbit one of the smaller stars in one of the smaller galaxies. I think the pinnacle of ignorance is saying this was all made for us.
I know that most people are wondering how Hitchens has patience for a fool like Turek??
The answer is simple: Hitchens is extremely intelligent, he is intellectually superior to his opponents and intellectually superior persons don’t get irritated by foolish statements from his opponents – they just get bored.
Boredom is sort of a mechanism of defense of all intellectually superior persons (as i fortunately can attest to)!
I fear people like Turek. They are dangerous.
ouch, very embarrassing arguments from turek.
WOW 348 thumbs up to 1 dislike… this gives me hope for the planet earth!!
This Turek hes got nothing and he can’t prove or make sense of anything that he said.
i don’t think hitchens slayed him,,,but this is due to the fact that he barely got to make any of his points….in other words, no battle occurred, turek might has well been me drunk with friends ranting about robot chicken or something silly like that.
@lifeofbob thank you so much for making this point. we don’t know that. it’s a god of the gaps that’s gone way too far. for example roger penrose (“Before the Big-Bang”) has proposed a physical model of something one might call a super-verse . i’ll play atheist of the gaps, but at least admit my using a hypothetical…if there is a superverse with infinite time and space, then no longer does the craig kalaam cosmological argument work.
omg rofl. I’ve seen countless Hitchens debates, read his books, and even some of his articles. I have never seen a smack down this intense. The ultimate insult to a person’s stance is to concede ground solely for the fun of it.
hitchens bends him over lol
This is becoming a pet peeve of mine; we actually don’t know that the universe came into being out of nothing. The earliest time we know about is the Plank epoch, a tiny fraction of a second after the big bang occurred, and all indications are that there was exactly the same amount of total energy at that moment as there is now. Any physics majors out there who can tell me if I’m wrong on this?
When Religion can’t win the debate with Science notice how they try to hijack it and hold it hostage.
If religious people really were looking for the reason for the beginning of the universe that would be quite a bit of progress. Sadly, that’s so obviously not true.
