To whom much is given

October 29th, 2010 by admin

Luke 12:48 but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

First, I would speak with any believer, in that if you are in Christ, you have been given so much! What do you do with that, however? Know this compared to Isreal and the Old Covenant

They didn’t have the full scripture or access to it personally, they didn’t have the savior, they did have the Holy Spirit. God still judged them harshly, with 2 or 3 witnesses you died without mercy.

We stand on this side of the Cross, where God is storing His wrath for His Return. We have access to lexicons, dictionaries, commentaries, bible study software, a plethora of support documents, and the complete Bible, in many different translations. We have the SAVIOR, we have the HOLY SPIRIT as well. Luke 12:48 is a scary passage.

Second, to those who have been given, or think they have been given, ‘special revelation’ abilities to teach, preach or whatever(real or perceived) How much more will our Master expect of us? if the Apostle Paul said this

1 Corinthians 9:27
but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

I would bring a strong word of caution and exhortation to put your life and gifts of the Spirit into a Biblical perspective, and to not think yourself too highly, because we have all been given a measure of Faith. Put it in a walk of Fear and Trembling before God, or call it a constant distrust of self, and trust in God

God expects more from you the more He gives, or He will take it away? Have you ever had knowledge or something taken away by the Lord, I have and it wasn’t pleasant.
