seekHm1st> Jeremiah 3:1 They say, If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him and will be for another man, will he return to her again? Would not that land be greatly defiled? But you play the harlot with many lovers; yet come back to Me, says Jehovah.
seekHm1st> That is a quote out of Jeremiah from Deuteronomy
seekHm1st> Chapter 24 I think
seekHm1st> Back in chapter two God told the people that they had their faces turned toward him, but also their backs.

seekHm1st> But what that meant was that they were being phonies
seekHm1st> They paid Him no real spiritual acknowledgment

seekHm1st> They had "played the harlot" with many "lovers"

seekHm1st> and in verse six of chapter three, He starts the second message
seekHm1st> 3:6 Jehovah also said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has fornicated there.
seekHm1st> 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn to Me! But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
seekHm1st> 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes for which backsliding Israel committed adultery, I sent her away and gave a bill of divorce to her, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she went and whored, she also.
seekHm1st> Israel as you all know, had been split into two kingdoms
seekHm1st> And Judah had seen the northern kingdom carried away by Assyria
seekHm1st> taken into captivity
seekHm1st> A judgment upon them from God for their iniquities

seekHm1st> that having seen all of these things happen to their sister kingdom..
seekHm1st> that they might have been warned off of doing what they were doing

seekHm1st> sometimes in our own churches

seekHm1st> We need to examine ourselves..

seekHm1st> Do I have a divided heart?
seekHm1st> God is calling us for a full committment to Him.
seekHm1st> "Come apart frome them and be ye separate" says the Lord

seekHm1st> it is a feigning love
seekHm1st> But God looks at the heart
seekHm1st> and He knows it
seekHm1st> And He knows when people lust after the things of the world.
seekHm1st> 3:14 Turn, O backsliding sons, says Jehovah; for I am married to you; and I will take you one from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
seekHm1st> 3:15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
seekHm1st> God wanted them to acknowledge their iniquity.
seekHm1st> To repent of it.

seekHm1st> Here God was talking about a time to come.
seekHm1st> Where men would no longer be looking to the stone tablets contained within the Ark of the Covenant
seekHm1st> And there would be a New Covenant
seekHm1st> Written on the heart
seekHm1st> and not on hearts of stone
seekHm1st> God said they had dealt with Him "treacherously"
seekHm1st> but if they would return to Him, He would heal their backslidings…….
seekHm1st> 3:23 Truly, for delusion comes from the high hills, tumult on the mountains. Truly, in Jehovah our God is the salvation of Israel.
seekHm1st> What does the "high hills" mean in that statement?
seekHm1st> Anyone?
seekHm1st> Okay……….
seekHm1st> What He was referring to there was the fact that the high hills was where the people had raised their altars to false gods
seekHm1st> Salvation is not to be found there…
seekHm1st> But only with Jehovah.
seekHm1st> Through Jesus Christ.
seekHm1st> God moved on to say that judgment was coming
seekHm1st> And Jeremiah responded by saying that God had surely deceived the people.
seekHm1st> 4:10 Then I said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! Surely You have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, You shall have peace; but the sword reaches to the soul.seekHm1st> That was because the "prophets" of the day were running around saying………
seekHm1st> Israel shall not be taken
seekHm1st> Peace, peace. The sword shall not come to Israel.
seekHm1st> But they were not speaking for God.
seekHm1st> These men…….these people were using spiritual language…..
seekHm1st> but they were wicked.
seekHm1st> Remember the story of Elisha, when he healed Nahum by the power of God?
seekHm1st> Nahum tried to give Elisha rewards……..
seekHm1st> But Elisha would have none of it.
seekHm1st> Gehazi, Elisha’s servant however chased after Nahum’s caravan
seekHm1st> and told a lie about Elisha having sudden guests
seekHm1st> And asked on his master
seekHm1st> master’s behalf for some silver and some clothing
seekHm1st> When He went back to Elisha……Elisha said, "The Lord lives. Where have you been?"
seekHm1st> Gehazi answered, "The Lord lives. I haven’t been anywhere."
seekHm1st> Well, you know the story.
seekHm1st> Gehazi ended up white with leprosy.
seekHm1st> But what I am getting at is that he spoke, couching his deceit in spiritual terms.
seekHm1st> He was a servant to one of the most greatly used prophets of God.
seekHm1st> He saw many miracles done by God through Elisha.
seekHm1st> Yet he didn’t have the heart toward God’s ministry….
seekHm1st> He talked the talk………
seekHm1st> but his walk was deceitful and wretchedly wanting.
seekHm1st> Such was the case with Judah.
seekHm1st> The Bible say to be "simple" concerning evil.
seekHm1st> Better to be dumb about evil.
seekHm1st> Jeremiah says the same thing here
seekHm1st> The people were "wise" to do evil.
seekHm1st> But to do good they have no knowledge.
seekHm1st> I heard about a group of young Christian guys who had started a ministry………….
seekHm1st> Where they went down to local strip clubs……….
seekHm1st> in order to witness to the strippers….
seekHm1st> They didn
seekHm1st> didn’t stay OUTside…….
seekHm1st> they went INside to carry out this "ministry"
seekHm1st> How dumb is that?
seekHm1st> Don’t strippers go to the grocery store?

seekHm1st> I think they can be witnessed to in those places.
