Did you all see the news about anne rice leaving christianity? it was on cnn.com on 7/30. I find her analysis of the difference between being a christian and following christ to be quite brilliant. Here’s the text, but you can find the article yourselves on cnn.com:

Anne Rice leaves Christianity

Legendary author Anne Rice has announced that shes quitting Christianity.

The Interview with a Vampire author, who wrote a book about her spirituality titled "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession" in 2008, said Wednesday that she refuses to be anti-gay, anti-feminist," anti-science and anti-Democrat.

Rice wrote, For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today I quit being a Christian … It’s simply impossible for me to belong to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else.

Rice then added another post explaining her decision on Thursday:

My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn’t understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me," Rice wrote. "But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.

Note how she affirms her faith, yet rejects the nonsense of christianity with it’s hate and intolerance and arrogance. You can tell she’s a professional writer, I doubt it could have been said better, although maybe you’ve seen the bumper sticker that reads "Lord, protect me from your followers."

No wonder the christian church is shrinking except in the third world. Until the heart of Jesus comes back to christianity, it will continue to shrink as an organization, even though many will remain followers of Jesus. Sort of bites for the organized religion folks, don’t you think?

What are these Anonymous Internet Christian Forums really?

Glory be to God Almighty! With love, greetings in His name; I am born again in Christ and God willing being transformed (Romans 12:2) like any other imperfect repented baptized disciple in the flesh. As such, I may be enabled here to help guide those out of darkness and/or to teach, correct, edify, learn from and pray with brethren? This topic is testimony to startling truths revealed about forums which Ive experienced first hand and how it relates to Christian behavior. Indeed, I wonder what Jesus would have preached about todays Internet? Though likely He would be pleased to see the various versions of the Holy Bible online and in several different Languages, I somehow doubt Jesus would have approved of much else about the Internet and though God knows my intent is not to harm anyone, I soon found out that harmful is actually the norm in many if not most forums? So Im not naïve to assume that people in so-called Christian forums may necessarily be friendly or Christian for that matter because Ive witnessed such diabolical hate-mongering, cowardice and hypocrisy among so-called believers; that it might have made Hitler blush which is partly why Im now bringing this to the attention of other forums too?

But since this forum does not allow more than 15K characters per posting and this is over 48K, so I wont even attempt to post it here in full. Anyone is welcomed though to contact me at: in-his-name@shaw.ca if they want to read it. Blessings,
